Sports-Dallas-Commercial-Photography-Brian-Braun-Wallace-Spearmon Olympic Runner Wallace Spearmon Jr.

The 2012 Olympic Summer Games started this weekend…which happens to be my favorite sporting event! Recently I posted my shoot with Olympic Runners Doc Patton and Wallace Spearmon Jr. which was a blast! So I thought I would post my lighting diagram of how I did the above photograph. Like I said in my original post, we only had time for one lighting set up to shoot for about 10 minutes at the end of their last practice-last day, before they left for London. We ended up shooting at about 11am so the sun was pretty high in the sky so it required more juice on the packs to compete with the natural Texas light.
Gear used
1. Profoto 7B + Pro Heads
2. Strip boxes to both side of the Athletes slightly behind
3. Softbox to the (barely) left of the camera, angled to the slight left so the box feather the subject’s face with light while keeping a fall off on the right. (Athletes left side of face)

Recently I had the cool opportunity to shoot the Dallas Crossfit Central Team  photography that is competing in the 2012 Reebok CrossFit Games right now! (July 13-15) To be honest I’ve never been big on group workouts but after seeing these amazing athletes and the condition they are in….I might be drinking the Crossfit Kool Aid. For being in such elite shape as these guys they are also some of the nicest people I’ve shot. We had a lot of fun making these “intense” photos. Here is the behind the scene video of our shoot. Enjoy!

Gear Used:

Profoto 7b packs + Pro Heads
Pocket Wizard plus ii’s + Mini tt1
Canon 5d mk ii

Today, Friday the 13th, I had the huge honor of shooting two Olympic athletes, Doc Patton and Wallace Spearmon Jr. RIGHT before they left for the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London the next day (SATURDAY!). We had just a sliver of time at the end of their last practice before they left so we were only allowed one lighting location. (I was also informed I had til the end of the day to put the behind the scenes video up or they would be in breach of contract with the US Olympic committee) The shoot was short and sweet but we had a blast! Both of these guys were so cool and willing to do what it took to make the project a success.  Also Wallace gave me a “ride” in his geared up Nissan GTR! I’ve driven some pretty high end cars but this is the only one to let me know how Wylie Coyote felt strapped to that rocket. WOW.

GOOD LUCK GENTLEMEN WITH REPRESENTING OUR COUNTRY TO THE WORLD! WE THANK YOU! Be sure and tune in to watch these guys

CHECK OUT HOW I SHOT THESE ATHLETES HERE

For these images I wanted very strong images of each of these men. Both are in incredible shape so I wanted to show them in their domain.
