Every closing of a year we all make a goal or 10 that we will change to make our lives better.  Changes start with a realistic gut check of where you are, then it takes the courage to act to make things happen! This is a great visual to meditate on for the beginning of a new year! Have a great time tonight and please be safe!

I don’t care how big of the shoot I get to do, I still feel like the new kid on the block that has something to prove. This can be good or bad and everything thing is perspective.

Motivation MONDAY! There are films, shorts, & commercials I can watch and will completely remind me of how I need to step it up. Like every other kid that grew up in 80’s and 90’s Michael Jordan was my hero. The man owned the sport and there has never been a better player than him, (READ THE STATS, AWARDS, ETC….No DEBATE). To hear him say the words in this video remind us that to be the greatest you have to work at it. No matter your success!

We Stopped Dreaming pt. 2

The 2nd video to my previous post WE STOPPED DREAMING. This one is just as powerful as the first, if not more. For me this video puts goosebumps on me and makes me well up a bit. Thoughts below the vid.

NASA brought our country, our world inspiration, motivation, and all hall pass to dream. Dream to infinity and beyond. You might have read the first things to cut in schools when budgets get low are typically the art programs. MUSIC, DRAWING, DESIGN, PAINTING….Cut. This is huge beyond most of our comprehension. Mr. Holland from Mr. Holland’s Opus said it best…..”IF YOU CUT THESE PROGRAMS WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO WRITE ABOUT??”  Our willingness to see these programs including NASA fade from society saddens me beyond belief.

Art is defined as: the quality, production, expression, or realm, according to aesthetic principles, of what is beautiful, appealing, or of more than ordinary significance. Was NASA not art?? Art of the human spirit to push ourselves and discover more? To boldly go where no man has gone before! Us American’s have some real masterpieces to our name in the way of NASA missions. Things that nobody did before us. If we can pretend to fast forward one thousand years from now, what do you think America’s early accomplishments would be?? Going to the moon.  I could rant and rave about this more. I posted this because it means a great deal to me that we continue to think about how we are inspiring the world to continue to dream.

Graduates out there…..CONGRATULATIONS. So many possibilities are ahead of you. Just like elementary school to middle school or high school to college, you go from the top of the food chain to the bottom. Welcome to the real world!…a.k.a. the jungle! Thought I would put together a few things I have held on to over the years, may they help you in your new chapter of your journey my friends!

David Calhoun, CEO of The Nielsen Co., spoke of five critical components of career success:

  • 1. Keep learning throughout life Globalism means the world is changing so fast that no one can rest on what they already know.
  • 2. Never compromise your integrity A decade of corporate scandal has laid bare temptations that can shred a career.
  • 3. Listen to internal signals that you are becoming bored Boredom leads to stagnation or a know-it-all attitude that will destroy you. “Stay paranoid about the currency of your knowledge,” Calhoun advised.
  • 4. Be willing to take on the tough jobs Only by continually challenging yourself can you stay motivated. “Difficult situations bring real purpose and resolve to our decision making,” Calhoun said. “Don’t avoid them; ask for them.”
  • 5. Build a global perspective The world is shrinking at a fast pace. Employees who understand foreign cultures will have the most opportunity.

These aren’t new themes. But they merit attention now. Calhoun especially emphasized the first two points. He said:

“Learning is the single greatest source of competitive differentiation in the business world and the single most important ingredient to a successful career and fulfilling life. … Making that commitment to lifelong learning … requires enormous personal resolve, a big dose of self-awareness, and a comprehensive view of self. … Whether it be intellectual pursuits, spiritual, technical, athletic or moral, resolve to grow.”

Many of you may have seen this but in my humble opinion it is priceless.
