2011: True Grit

Another Year! We Made it!  Last year was an amazing one for me personally and I truly have some serious optimism for us in 2011.  Over the holidays I had the chance to go see the western movie, True Grit. An amazing film with great performances for all the actors, writers, and cinematographers. “I hear your a man of TRUE GRIT” the little girl says to Jeff Bridges’ character. The idea of True Grit has consumed me ever since.

What is True Grit? Is it the ability the make the stand for what is right and true when all seems to lean for the opposite. Does it mean you will brave the storms of obstacles and challenges that dare to block you from your goals. Doesn’t this endurance, this drive to persevere really define your life in the end?

One of my favorite quotes is from Rocky 6.

The world ain’t all sunshine and rainbows. It’s a very mean and nasty place and I don’t care how tough you are it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain’t about how hard ya hit. It’s about how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. How much you can take and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done! Now if you know what you’re worth then go out and get what you’re worth. But ya gotta be willing to take the hits, and not pointing fingers saying you ain’t where you wanna be because of him, or her, or anybody! Cowards do that and that ain’t you! You’re better than that!

These last couple of years have not been easy for a lot of us. Jobs have been harder to find and harder to keep. So this is blog is about sticking it out there. Takin your punches and moving forward for your dreams, for what you believe. Whether your dream is to feed your kids, own your own house, shoot full time, or shoot bigger and badder gigs for clients….NEVER give up no matter what they are.  Show them you will not go down with out a fight.

We were not designed to live in shame or in the shadows, but to shine.

“Life is a storm. You will bask in the sun one moment, be smashed into the rocks the next. You must look into that storm and say,  ‘Do your worst, for I will do mine.'” – Count of Monte Cristo

Do you have GRIT?!
