We Stopped Dreaming

A very interesting video about NASA from Neil deGrasse Tyson. How it “Galvanized the Nation”, forced us to grow, to dream…and the results of cutting such a program.

“HOW MUCH WOULD YOU PAY FOR THE UNIVERSE”

Though I love NASA and the manned space initiative, I have mixed emotions about the program. That being said something in my heart broke a bit when I found out it was cut. Like a kid being told you’ve reached the end of a hiking trail. You want to know there is more available to explore.

What do you think? Do you look at NASA differently after watching this? I do after watching this.

We NEED NASA. NASA encourages dreamers. When I was a kid, all I wanted to do was go to Space Camp. I was obsessed. It’s thinking like that that makes kids aspire to higher things. It makes kids dream. Today all our kids care about is making a funny video on YouTube.

    something to think about…

  • I’ve always been a huge supporter of NASA. I even belonged to the National Space Society. Unfortunately, we are completely losing our internal identity as a nation and the mandate for NASA by Obama to “reach out to the Muslim community” is an absurd directive and a key indicator of this identity crisis. We are spending too much money abroad and way too little on things that give us our national identity and pride. It’s time to focus inward and clean up our own backyard and let the rest of the world take care of itself. It’s like putting the mask on yourself on an airplane before helping others put their masks on.
